Fostering Kittens 101

First, weigh kitty at same time everyday.



Next, "stimulate" kitty. Yes, this is gross. Yes, it's an awful name for it. And yes, you actually have to wipe kitty down there so that it can pee and poo. This is what the mom cat would do for them if she was around -- except she would use her tongue instead of a cotton swab.

Now the fun part: feeding!

Time to burp!

"Stimulate" one last time (ew).

Repeat every 4.5 to 6 hours, for the first several weeks.

as some of you may already know, kittens don't start to open their eyes until they're about 2 weeks old. here's a home video of diego wandering about with his brand new, slightly open, beautiful eyeballs.

Welcome Home Kittens

Just 5 days old, dora and diego arrive home in their kitty carrier from the animal shelter. They have 2 other siblings: an all white kitten, and another tortoise shell. We split the litter in half, both for ease of caring and for the sake of my fiance, who did not know he was becoming a father on saturday, september 13th.
